It's been forever...I know

I stopped blogging before I really got into it because I was just too busy. I was working full time attending college full time plus teaching piano and playing for church. At the moment, I'm off recovering from spinal surgery so I have a little bit of time on my hands. I say a little because I am still attending school full time. (It's my senior year...hooray!!!) And I plan to add a little piano back in this week.

So here's the thing...although I have some free time, I have spent every second checking out free knit, crochet and jewelry patterns. This all started with looking for shawls to knit for our new prayer shawl ministry at church. Of course, while I'm looking at shawls I see all kinds of other neat stuff. And I've come to the conclusion that I can never die because I will never have enough time to make everything I want to make.

On the fast track so far is a sweater for Mark. He finally was able to settle on a pattern he liked from www.knitpicks.com. Of course we are modifying it to get exactly what he wants. While I was on knitpicks, I went looking for something unique for my mother's Christmas present. She is a knitter too so I like to get her something unique and knitting related every year. Anyway, Knit Picks had this great knitter's tote (the kit is on sale now...check it out!) so I have materials for that coming as well.

Of course, I really want to knit something for myself so that is still in process. There are so many great things to choose from that I am overwhelmed with ideas! Some of the blogs and websites I have been looking at today are: fast-falling feathers, http://marniemaclean.com/index.htm,l http://www.cometosilver.com/patterns/, http://kellymaher.wordpress.com/ and of course ravelry, knitty and drops design. So you can see my dilemma. So many projects...so little time.

Dinner today is Chicken Stroganoff Pot Pie from my Betty Crocker Cookbook. Recipe here
I'm thinking Apple Crisp for dessert since I have some apples to use up.

On the school front, I need to come up with an idea for a research proposal and I'm thinking about the correlation between kids with ADHD and parents who used drugs. It's Mark's pet theory and it's a good one. It's funny, I am always thinking of things that should be studies but I can't recall any of them now.

Ok...well, I'm forcing myself to leave the computer for a while. I'm going to read The World in Six Songs by Daniel Levitin...pure pleasure. Until next time...

She's Back

I've been really bad about posting. Things have been crazy, crazy, crazy lately. Looks like things are moving in the right direction now so that's a good thing. I've been working on going back to college but don't really have time since I still need to work full-time so I'm going to SUNY online. I have orientation July 16th and then we'll see what happens. Hopefully I'll qualify for some kind of financial aid or scholarships because I can't really afford to pay tuition. We do have some reimbursement at work as well, so hopefully it won't be completely gone by Sept.

Well, we're not going far this weekend since I'm on call for the rest of this month. Boox is still in bed but I'm eager to get a few things done around the house today so I've started the laundry and already made tonight's dessert. Here's a link to the recipe Light-Lemon-Pie. It was really easy to put together and the filling tastes amazing so here's hoping.

Happy weekend!
